The Ministry of Presence: Briana’s Rising Phoenix Story / Frisco, Texas

The room fell quiet before anyone said a word.

Her daughter Payton stood on one side. Her girlfriends — sisters of the heart — stood on the other. The wrapping came off, and I slowly turned her statement piece around to face them.

And in that instant, the air shifted.

Truth Spoken Out Loud

“This…” one friend whispered, hand over her heart.
“This is your Ministry of Presence.”

I had never heard anyone described this way before — a ministry of presence.
Not a ministry of words. Not a ministry of action.
But a ministry built simply on who she is when she walks into a room.

Immediately, I knew those three words were different — weighty, sacred, and true.

Those three words landed in my spirit like truth I’d always known but never named.
And as we continued her Rising Phoenix Experience, I kept seeing it again and again —
in her stillness, in her eyes, in her joy, in the depth she carries without trying.

Another exhaled, “This is the queen your daughter sees.”

And Briana — the woman who has held space for so many, who has lifted others with her strength, her wisdom, her faith — stood in awe of herself.

For a moment, she didn’t move.
She simply received. And she let the tears fall.

This was not just a photograph.
It was a mirror of her identity — regal, rooted, timeless.
A skyscraper of a woman with a deep foundation.
A woman whose very presence unguards those around her.
A woman whose daughter describes her spirit as a sunset, an ocean breeze, a field of sunflowers.

In that moment, everything her family had spoken over her finally came into focus.

This was the woman her family had seen for years.
And now, finally, she could see her too.

The Audacity to Rise

Long before she stood in front of my camera, Briana had lived a story shaped by bravery and holy audacity.

From ministry leadership in her early twenties to confronting spiritual abuse, to protecting a family member when others stayed silent — her journey has been marked by the courage to stand for truth even when it cost her deeply.

Throughout her life, she carried a sacred tension inside her:

The little girl longing to be protected.
The grown woman learning she could be her own protector.
The audacity to say, “How dare you,” to the things that sought to diminish her — and to rise anyway.

Her husband Dominique described her with awe:
“She commands the room. She walks in with the kind of confidence that fills the space.”

Her children echoed the same truth from every angle:

“She is love-centered.”
“My mom feels like a sunrise.”
“She taught me confidence.”
“She helps people feel safe by just being who she is.”

Her daughter, Bria, called it her Ministry of Presence — the way she unguards people simply by standing with them.

Her friend of 20 years, Tish, said it best:
“She is a skyscraper — strong because of the foundation no one sees.”

Because of this, her Rising Phoenix Experience wasn’t about transforming her into someone new.

It was about seeing the woman God had already formed in her, the woman her people were reflecting back.

The Joy That Rose Inside Her

We turned the music up.
Her body swayed.
Her smile widened.
And joy — deep, radiant, embodied joy — spilled out of her.

It was the kind of joy that can’t be forced or staged.
The kind that rises when truth lands in the body.

And that joy didn’t stop there.

When her wall art and album arrived. She brought her beautiful community of sisters to see it for the first time with her and celebrate.

Her girlfriends cried, cheered, and embraced her.
Payton, her daughter, beamed. Oh, how she beamed!
The room pulsed with celebration.

When women gather… something sacred begins.

The Portraits She Chose

Out of all the portraits we created, Briana chose five to place in the sacred nook of her bedroom — a place she will see every morning.

A portrait that holds:

Her audacity
Her faith
Her presence
Her calling
Her joy
Her roots
Her future

These portraits now serve as daily reminders of the words spoken by her tribe — truths she can finally believe for herself:

Portraits that remind her of the words her tribe shared:

The queen of her family’s heart — this is who they see when they look at her.
A woman of God — created, called, and deeply rooted in her faith.
One who has overcome everything that tried to break her.
Already becoming the woman she once only hoped to be.

Now her Ministry of Presence will greet her every morning as she rises, a daily reminder of the woman God formed in her.

These aren’t just portraits.
These are mirrors of identity.
These are anchors of truth.

The truths her family prayed she would embrace.
And the essence of the woman she is now.

Rising Phoenix isn’t about photos. It’s about identity.

It’s about what happens when a man or woman finally sees themselves —
fully, clearly, truthfully —
through the eyes of love, faith, and community.
