You are more than what you survived.
The Rising Phoenix Experience was created to help people reconnect with the strength, resilience, beauty, and truth of who they’ve become.
What began five years ago as a transformative portrait experience has become something far bigger than we ever imagined—an experience that therapists, neuroscientists, and mental health professionals are now studying for its impact on identity, resilience, emotional healing, and rewiring the brain.
We’re celebrating FIVE years of our Rising Phoenix Experience.
Because this isn’t just a photoshoot.
It’s a powerful reminder of who you are beneath the pain, pressure, shame, burnout, heartbreak, or survival mode that may have buried that truth for years.
Over the past five years, Rising Phoenixes have included:
Men and women rebuilding after heartbreak, illness, divorce, burnout, trauma, and profound life transitions. Cancer survivors. Caregivers. Entrepreneurs. Empty nesters. Mothers. Fathers. Therapists. Coaches.
And over and over again, they’ve told us:
“This changed my life.”
Seeing your wall art every day has…
✔️ Reminded people how far they’ve come
✔️ Helped finally quiet years of shame and self-criticism
✔️ Strengthened marriages and relationships
✔️ Reconnected people to their confidence, joy, and identity
✔️ Inspired breakthroughs they never imagined possible
It turns out, there’s a reason for that.
Neuroscience confirms what so many Rising Phoenixes have experienced firsthand:
When your brain is repeatedly exposed to powerful imagery reflecting your strength, resilience, beauty, and truth, it begins to reshape the narratives you carry about yourself.
Not because you became someone new.
But because you finally began recognizing the strength that was there all along.

Rising Phoenix Experience
Jajuan’s Rising Phoenix Story of Resilience and Mental Health Advocacy with the FIORIA Photography Method
In 2012, Jajuan Winesberry made the courageous choice to check himself into a psychiatric ward—an act of love for himself, his wife Misty, and their future. Diagnosed with Bipolar I shortly before his 33rd birthday, Jajuan went from semi-pro basketball player and senior class president to navigating the intense mental battles that few ever speak about—especially in the African American community. His Rising Phoenix Experience gave him a visual voice to what most never see: the daily discipline, the unshakable faith, and the deep emotional strength it takes to rise each day. He wanted this wall art collection not only for himself, but for his daughters—to show them the strength their father walks in and the hope that rises, even from the darkest places.
Today, his story isn’t just one of endurance—it’s one of purpose. Misty, his wife, calls it the gift born from pain. Together, they speak to audiences about faith, marriage, and mental health, igniting healing in others. And in March 2025, Jajuan released his powerful book, Unbreakable Spirit—a raw and triumphant story of rising again and again. For Jajuan, this wall art is more than a collection of portraits—it’s a declaration: I am not ashamed. I am not alone. And still, I rise.

“She Is Brave, She Is Beautiful, She Is BOLD” - Jess
Jess’s Rising Phoenix Journey through the FIORIA Photography Method
“I stare at them every day and admire the girl that is staring back at me... she nudges when I feel scared, she’s hopeful when I feel defeated, and she’s restful when I feel overwhelmed.” For years, Jess avoided the camera—haunted by the shame of childhood sexual abuse. Even after becoming a therapist, the idea of being photographed felt unbearable. But everything changed the day she experienced the FIORIA Photography Method—where neuroscience and photography converge to help heal the brain. Through storytelling, movement, music, reflective interviews, and intentional portraiture, Jess began to rewire how she saw herself. What started as a dreaded gift from her husband became a moment of breakthrough. “She is brave, she is beautiful, and she is BOLD,” Jess proclaimed through tears, pointing at the woman in her portraits.
That moment marked the beginning of deep internal healing—not just emotionally, but neurologically. Each portrait became a visual anchor, gently rewriting the beliefs that once kept her small. This collection is now displayed in her home office, surrounding her with daily reminders of the power she stepped into. Jess’s confidence rises anew with every client she helps. Her portraits tell the story of what’s possible when courage meets transformation. “Resilience became my anthem,” she says. And through the FIORIA Photography Method, she discovered that healing could be seen, felt—and lived.

Rising Phoenix Experience
A Rising Phoenix story created through the FIORIA Photography Method—where neuroscience and storytelling helped her rediscover the light within, even in the shadow of cancer.
Each day, Shalom walks into her living room and sees herself—smiling, radiant, strong—smiling back from the wall. “She (her wall art) catches my eye… and grounds me,” Shalom says. “Even when I feel scared or disoriented, I see her. I feel this crazy shifting inside of me.”
When Stage 4 cancer upended Shalom’s world, she didn’t just fight to survive—she stripped away every distraction, stepping deeper into who she truly is. A source of peace her whole life, she is slowly emerging from the fire not diminished, but radiant. Her name means “peace, wholeness, and well-being,” and that meaning lives boldly through her more than ever. Her Rising Phoenix portraits now return the love, light, and hope she’s given so many.
Isabella’s Breakthrough with Phelan McDermid Syndrome and the FIORIA Photography Method
It was nothing short of a miracle—the first time Isabella ever looked at the camera and smiled.
Born with Phelan McDermid Syndrome, she is non-verbal, experiences global developmental delays, and is highly sensory-sensitive—making photo shoots deeply overwhelming. Her mom almost said no. But through prayer, courage, and a gift from friends, she stepped into the FIORIA Photography Method—where neuroscience and photography converge to help heal the brain. Every part of the experience was crafted to honor Isabella’s pace and build trust. Then, something extraordinary happened: when Me Ra began sharing aloud what Isabella’s parents love most about her, Isabella looked up—and smiled.
That moment unraveled more than nerves—it began to dissolve years of silent fear. Her mom later shared, “Every night I put her to bed, I’d struggle with overwhelming fear that she might have a seizure. But since our experience with you, that fear is gone. I now see the deep peace my daughter carries.” Through her portraits, that peace is visible—radiant. Her brother Jackson calls them “Joy Bringers,” a family whose story began with prayer and continues to inspire hope. Their wall art collection now glows in their home, daily reflecting resilience, belonging, and vision for what is still to come. “That’s my Rising Phoenix,” her mom whispered. “She inspires me every day.”
Lucas’s Rising Senior Journey through the FIORIA Photography Method
When Lucas’s mom first told him she booked a senior portrait session, his response was: “I’m doing this for you, Mom.” He had never liked seeing himself in photos. But what began as a gift for her became one of the most meaningful transformations we’ve witnessed. During our call, Lucas shared that he’s driven, confident, and smart—but the word he wrestled to believe was capable. That single word became the heartbeat of his Rising Senior Experience. Through the FIORIA Photography Method—where neuroscience and photography converge to rewire how we see ourselves—Lucas stepped into his greatness with portraits that reflected not who he hoped to be, but who he already was.
He went from never liking a single photo of himself to being the only client in our history who wanted to keep every. single. one. His family gifted him a custom Rising Senior album filled with those portraits and their words about him—a tangible reminder of everything he’s carrying into this next season of life. Today, his Rising Senior collection is beautifully displayed outside his bedroom door, greeting him each morning with the truth: he is capable. One day during a tough moment in senior year, he told his mom that the portraits reminded him “that’s my best self.” His posture has changed. His spirit has shifted. What began as “I’m doing this for you” became “This is who I am.”
