Journey is emphatic. Her determination and joy are amazing like butterflies going through her body.

One of the most beautiful conversations we have with families before their FIORIA Experience are the calls we do with the husband and wife. I’m always so blown away by the words they use to describe what means most (especially when they start the call saying they’re not good at thinking of words–somehow they ALWAYS find them! LOL). A shift happens in the call, and they share from that deeper place.

The moment I heard David describe Journey’s determination and joy like butterflies going through her body, I was so INSPIRED to not only capture what means so much to him–but how it makes him feel!

David is My Solid Place

He is my solid place, never changing, the one I can always count on.

David wakes up early. When I wake up and go the bathroom, I find that he has already put toothpaste on my toothbrush. I start my day knowing that someone, that David, has thought of me.

He’s my best friend, my adventure partner, and encourages me to grow.

When I’m overwhelmed…

He listens and then in his voice and tone, puts a pause, helping me look more inward.

Then he holds me, hugging me, and it just makes me want to cry. It feels so comforting.

I feel embraced emotionally and physically.

Isn’t it amazing how our differences are the very gift we give each other? David loves the JOY Journey’s emphatic energy brings his life. And she depends on the solid, safe place that he is for her.

Ethan taught me how to love.

He helped me establish myself. Any time he has downtime, he wants to help me. He is the kindest soul. Ethan’s eyes always meet my eyes with a smile that says he loves me so.

This young man struck me as being his mom’s protector. When I took their portrait, this was the instant stance and expression he gave me. His dad and I were both surprised. I can’t help but wonder if Ehtan wanted the world to know this is his mom and if you take her smile, you have him to deal with.

And then just like that his energy shifted when mom stepped out. There is such depth in his eyes, like an old soul.

Ethan is Understanding, Empathetic, and Fills My Bucket

Dad told us about a time when mom was out of town. He was pretty tired and Ethan understood. Later on, he was able to talk with Ethan and share more of his feelings. Ethan appreciated him explaining it all and having this adult like conversation.

When Ethan is listening to you, he is so attentive, focused. His face is both gentle and empthatic.

Everett is our Fun-Spirited, Jokester

When things get to serious, he lightens it up. Everett injects humor into our life and reminds me that time is fleeting.

I LOVED discovering this about Everett in our phone calls before their special FIORIA day! The boys wanted to have everyone bring something that they enjoy doing. Everett likes baking, so he brought a whisk. But before we took this photo, hearing that Everett was a jokester, I asked him what he thought about surprising his family by putting the bowl on his head. He LOVED the idea! And as you can see, his whole family did too!

He has Utter Ecstatic Joy!

Everett is so dynamic, the most expressive person I know! You can’t help but be influenced by his joy.

Instead of going with wall art of their family, they chose to celebrate their marriage.

“We chose to give this gift to ourselves because we always have this focus on our kids. We don’t think about ourselves enough,” said David. “We’re going to have this go above our master headboard, so we see get to see it every evening before we go to sleep.”
