30 Portraits of Babies Using Window Light and Shadows

Allowing Your Light to be Dark

One of the greatest compliments I’m ever given is when a portrait client signs up for our workshop.  Former brides and grooms whose weddings we shot now have thriving wedding photography businesses, as well as many moms whom I’ve had the honor of photographing their family.  When a portrait client, like Hong, has so much fun during her own family photo shoot, wants to learn photography too, and signs up…well…now we are just friends for LIFE!  (You’re stuck with me and Brian now Hong!  LOL!)

But seriously, look at this DRAMATIC, GORGEOUS portrait that Hong took!  She drove up from Houston for the weekend, as a beginner, and this is what she left with.  I also LOVE how she allowed things to be dark in this image.  This precious mom and baby are basically facing the window.  But instead of Hong shooting the photo straight on, she came around to the side to find this.  WOW!!!  The shadows behind them accentuates the gorgeous window light on their skin.  This is BEAUTIFUL HONG!!!

p.s.  If you’re interested in booking a Portrait Shoot with me, I’d love to connect!  CLICK HERE to see my portfolio.
