I can’t believe we are already into Week 3 of our online class “How to Capture Magical Light.” Since this is my first time doing an online class, the ladies have been amazing in helping us figure this whole thing out! I’m having a blast, and from their comments in the forum it sounds like they are too while being challenged at the same time. The class is sold out with a dozen plus Shadow Students. Here is a beautiful photo that one of the students, Rebecca, captured last week!

One of the most rewarding parts is through the critique part. I can see what glass ceilings women are running into and have a bunch of ideas on what is going on. I also get to see the students photos and techniques evolve over the weeks. Big changes already from Week 1 to Week 2, and I’m pushing these ladies! This has been so rewarding for me!
Update on More Online Classes:
I was thinking that we would do a whole summer of these online classes. But there have been a few shifts. For one, my wrists and fingers need some time off. I’m just cracking up at myself because I planned the first online class, including 30 critiques I do every week, at the same time as my last few weeks to get my book done. I’ve been writing up a storm over here! But you live and learn. 🙂 The only way to know is to dive in and just figure it out as you go, right?! Always learning over here…ALWAYS!
SONY has also asked me to come down to their headquarters for a special event in July. (more to come!)
But I am thinking of offering this same class “How to Capture Magical Light” in August. Going to wait on the Wedding and Business one. But if you are interested in doing this class in August, shoot us an email at info@fioria.us. Or you leave a comment too!

I want a redo on what I turned in 🙂 Not really but that is an amazing photo. This class is teaching me so much again. I just love getting the weekly assignment and I can tell that mid way through, things are starting to unfold and it is like opening a big present! Thank you Me Ra and Brian for offering this class. I just LOVE this class. I’m not what you would actually call a “photographer”, more like just a mom that takes pictures of her kids. And, can I tell you how much I have learned!! This has been such a “safe” learning environment to grow in. I never share my photos to anyone except my husband and family; and I did not feel threatened in anyway to share my assignment pictures with MeRa. She is just so positive and encouraging; you know she is just wanting to help you learn. She is so generous with her knowledge of photography. You couldn’t learn from anyone more sincere or caring. LOVE it!!! Thank you MeRa.
This class has been amazing and I can’t believe there is still more to come! The critiques are invaluable and the lessons each week have made things so clear! I have talked to a lot of photographers and I have never had anyone explain things about my camera as clearly as Me Ra has. This class has truly invigorated my photography and has me excited about shooting instead of feeling overwhelmed. Thank you Me Ra, Brian and your team for putting this together. I wish it could go on longer!! It almost feels like I have my own personal cheerleader and mentor. What a gift you are giving to us!!
Wow! It is so great to see what one of my classmates is doing! This class is great and it is giving me such a chance to push myself slowly and carefully! Can’t wait to see how much my photos will have changed by the end of the class!
Loving this class. Me Ra is not just an awesome photographer, but she just has this spirit about her, that makes you feel like you can do anything. She teaches and she encourages and she reminds you that it’s ok to make mistakes – she’s really helped me get excited about photography again! Thank you!

What a beautiful image and what a great experience this online course has been. I wondered if I was going to be able to learn and practice with a “long distance/online program” but, I must admit, I have. BIG TIME! The information each week, the videos and assignments are so clear and inspiring that I am absolutely HAPPY to have taken the course. Totally worth it! MeRa was born to teach, share her knowledge and experience. Simply amazing. TY for all you do for us. It doesn’t matter if you are a mom wanting to take the cutest pictures of your kids, or, a mom starting a business.. THIS COURSE IS AMAZING.
MaRa I just want to thank you for being so excited to share all of your knowledge with newbies like me. I absolutely love and appreciate how you talk to us, not down to us, and are so positive and encouraging. I haven’t found that with many other photographers in mu area, aside from my friends. Everyone wants to hide their secrets but you so openly share them and I want to sincerely thank you for that. All of the work you have put into the online class really shows. There are so many tidbits in this course. Even if you have a good grasp of the fundamental concepts, the tidbits are worth the enrollment fee! And I just love learning from the images that the other students are submitting. I’m just shadowing, but even lurking behind the scenes is so exciting and en”light”ening!

The class is fabulous! Thank GOODNESS my last day of classes is tomorrow because I’m more focused on this class than the last day of school (I’m a teacher)!!!!! I think I log on at least 5 times a day to check if there are any new posts for me to learn from!!! Everyone is so friendly.. and so open about what they want to learn! It’s definitely one of the safest forums I’ve ever been a part of.. and I attribute that to the fabulous teacher/amazing photog leading the class!
Can’t wait to start reading Lesson #3!
