Okay, the SOAR! Recipients are knocking it out of the park!! If you haven’t been to the SOAR! blog in a while, you need to see what these girls are up too. Holy smoke!!! Last week, they had to post their results from the SOAR! Photography Exercise on Defining Details. Part of the assignment was to interview an elderly person and then capture their Defining Details based on that interview. This part of the assignment has potential to push you out of your comfort zone. But all three SOAR! Recipients dove in and fought through their insecurities. But the best part is the rich, inspiration that they walked away with!
Here are excerpts from each of their blog posts with a teaser photo. To see their whole blog post, click on their names!

Would it seem disingenuous to visit and then ask to photograph her? Would my kids punctuate our visit with a diaper blow-out or a temper tantrum? Beyond the Smile by Rachel Abelson
The posed, everyone looking at the camera smiling pictures are like the opening paragraphs. We learn about appearance, but not about the people. It isn’t until we get beyond the smiles when we learn about the real person…..that’s when we discover the details.
My first subject was my daughter. She is your typical 4 year old with a couple of extras. What details can you tell me about her from these pictures?…

I am so PROUD of these ladies! That is Proud with a capital P! With each assignment, they are stepping out of their comfort zone and allowing themselves to be uncomfortable for the sake of finding growth in the end. The SOAR! Scholarship is an awesome program, but you only get out of it as much as you put into it. Wouldn’t you say these ladies are putting in 110%?
If you have a minute, leave them some love on their blogs posts in the comments.
