In the Last 72 Hours!

Me Ra Koh

In the last 72 hours, I got to fly over to Durango, CO and catch up with my dear friend, Jamie Irene. The town in Durango is pretty flat so everyone has these super cute cruisers to get around. I was positive we saw this town in a Norman Rockwell painting. 🙂

(notice those cool baskets and tins on the back of our cruisers–insert flowers from the market and baguettes and you feel like you’re living in a dream!)

We found a cute place called Cypress for lunch. It was fantastic, just parked our cruisers out front and caught up on life.

There is nothing like spending time with a close girlfriend who has known you for almost twenty years. If you haven’t already met Jamie Irene on this blog, you have to follow the link because she was the one who had a featured spot on Martha Stewart. Her felted handbags and backpacks for kids are just amazing! (love you James!)

Then the next morning I flew to Denver and met Katie and Fred! They are the sweetest couple, and we had a blast doing their engagement shoot. I’m going to save those photos for later. 🙂

After my shoot I had the pleasure of meeting a handful of women for a spontaneous dinner at the Whole Foods in Denver. I only had a hour, but we had a wonderful time talking about business, photography, pricing, marketing…all kinds of good stuff! I was going to hyperlink their websites for you but they are in a different purse, so if any of you ladies see this blog post, feel free to share your websites or blogs with us!

The two ladies in the middle are a Mother and Daughter studio. Isn’t that the coolest thing! It was my first time meeting a Mother/Daughter studio, and I was TOTALLY impressed!

So I came home late last night, kissed my kiddos who were fast asleep. Snuggled into bed next to Brian. Got up this morning, or was it yesterday morning? My days are all confused. Made fruit salad for the kids, took us to the chiropractor, then to Starbucks, then to swim class, and then a long nap. By the time our naps were over the sun had finally come out, and we all went out into the garden.

At about 6:45pm I get an email from my brother that Erica is going to be induced tonight. I mentioned to Brian that I wish I could be at the hospital and be with my little brother. He looks at me and says, “Then you should go.”

By now it’s 7pm. We book a 9pm flight for me, and now I’m in LA by 11pm.

Erica, my brother, and Erica’s mom are all asleep, and I don’t know if my time clock inside is just to screwed up, but here I am blogging next to her hospital bed. 🙂 Every thing is going really smooth so far, and I can’t wait to meet this little one!

This is definitely one of the busiest 72 hours in a long time!

Anyone else have a busy last few days? By the way, what day is it?

Your pictures are so amazing! I’ve been reading your blog for a while and loving it. Do you ever do shots in San Antonio? We don’t need any in the immediate future, but for one day…

Hopefully you will get a chance to rest after your busy days!

Oh my goodness..look at you on the bikes. I dream of living in a place like that. So great that you got to spend time with an old friend, what a joy. Brian definitely wins the hubby of the year award for telling you to jet off after being gone for a few days already! I don’t know how you do it all but your brother and sister in law are so lucky to have you there to capture their new addition.

  3. There is nothing like visiting an old friend that just knows you completely. I too am on a busy road trip just me and the kids (Scott’s away on a mission trip with the teens). I can’t say I’ve had any refeshing bike rides. Aahh-that looks lovely! Although I have had the pleasure of doing three photo shoots in two days with some of my closest friends and there now pre-teen children. Flash back moments of being 10 again as I photographed my friend of 35 years daughter who is a clone of her mom. I love how photography allows for building relationship…I totally feel like I got to know all the kids so much better. I have one more shoot to do before we head back to Oregon next week and also got a request to do a wedding in the Fall. Any chance you guys would be up for a play date next week? Luke and Makayla would love to see Pascaline and Blaze again…and of course I would be thrilled to see you guys again! I know your buzy, but it never hurts to ask! Enjoy that new little baby! Congrat’s to your whole family!

I love the photography!! Curious if any actions were run on these photos? Particularly the first one?

Can’t wait to see photos of the new bundle!

  5. MeRa,
Thank you so much for squeezing in a quick dinner in Denver. Even though it was only an hour I learned so much and I got to meet 3 other fabulous ladies. We stayed an hour after you left just chatting away. It was so much fun. I am the lady on the left in the back and my website and blog are here http://www.JenniferSchumacherPhotography.com. Next time you are in Denver I’d love to meet again.

Me Ra: You look absolutely amazing. We rarely get to see you in a photo (since you or Brian are usually behind the lens!). You look stunning. Miss you guys!

Glad to see you had so much fun here in Colorado Me Ra! But who took those photos of you in Durango?

And glad you got to hang out with Debi & Amanda Tipton of Kokoro Photography (www.kokorophotography.com – the mom & daughter team) they ARE amazing! I sure would have loved to join your group, but I’m a good couple hours from Denver….

Keep up the great inspiring work!

    Me Ra,
The cruiser pics look so relaxing and fun. I have two friends I have known for 32 years (of my 35 years on earth) and they know me better than I know myself, there is nothing like having friends like that. I miss them lots. We live far away from eachother too.

All the craziness will be so worth it when you meet the new baby. Congrats! 🙂

  12. Me Ra says:

Well we stayed up all through the night and now it’s 4:43pm and still no baby. 🙂 Erica is such a trooper. And Shae is doing really good too. We all managed to take turns and got three to four hours of sleep. I even got a shower in which hasn’t happened for 2 1/2 days. (scary, huh ;))

Someone asked about the actions I used in the photos, and there wasn’t any action used–just playing around in Lightroom.

And Kim, what day are you going to be here next week. We have people coming into town towards the end of the week, but if we could find a time for a play date, I would love to see you guys! Just email me.

Thanks again to the wonderful ladies who met up for dinner on Sunday. I hope our paths cross again, and I’m so excited for the beauty to grow in each of your businesses.

And yes, hands down, Brian does deserve the Dad/Husband of the Year Award because he didn’t even bat an eye out me heading out again after having just got home. I think the kids deserve some kind of great reward too because they were even bigger troopers about letting mama head out so soon. I have to say it was one of those acute moments when you realize you can’t be all things to your family. Pasc wasn’t to happy about me heading out again so soon, but I knew I needed to be here. It’s so hard to know your dissapointing your kids, and yet you hope that you’re also showing them how important family is (especially big sisters and their little brothers). Stay tuned for some sweet photos in the hours to come–fingers crossed it will be sooner than later!

  13. Awwh!! How exciting! I can’t wait to see the pics!

  14. Best of luck to your brother and sister-in-law. There’s nothing quite as exciting as when a child is born. It’s all of our hopes, dreams, fears, love and possibilities all wrapped up into one moment-one being.

I really love the 2 pictures of you and your friend. They are so magical. I have to say the first one is a fave, How did you do that? I know Brian wasn’t there taking the pic! DId you have it set on a timer? I’d really love to know how you set this up…it’s just so cool!

PS You Look radiant, you can see the joy you have when you’re with your friend Jamie!

  15. Wendy says:

Oh my gosh! I am so excited for you and your brother and sister-in-law. I have goosebumps and butterflies. I can’t wait to see the pictures.

Brian-you are awesome! Way to go holding down the fort!

    Me Ra

Thanks so much for taking the time to meet with us Sunday, we really enjoyed it and learned several things we will be implementing ASAP. Melanie, Jennifer, Amanda and I hung out for about an hour after you left for the airport to exchange more ideas and information. Always helpful to connect with other photographers!

Can’t wait to see the new baby photos. Congratulations Auntie!
