I know that come Tuesday, many of you start back into the schedules of making lunches, early morning breakfast with sleepy head kids, carpool mania, homework and so much more…
We’ve got a three day weekend. If you are a parent headed into this big change in schedule, I encourage you to take one last escapade this weekend.
Do something for yourself…
Float on a log down the beach.
Take yourself on a creative date with journal and latte in hand.
Take a photo walk around the block and capture details on your street in a new light.
Take a walk with nothing but yourself and soak in the sounds of birds, sprinklers and lawn mowers.
Pull out your bike one more time and get a good ride to finish off the summer.
Finish that book you’ve been reading.
Call a friend you’ve been meaning to catch up with.
Buy yourself a bunch of flowers at the Farmer’s Market.
Whatever it is, do something to fill yourself up. Even if it’s the smallest thing.
You deserve it. You need it. You are worth it.
After you’ve done it, come back here and tell us what you did! I can’t wait to hear!

That is a fantastic picture. Love it.

Oh my goodness. That photo is really breathtaking!
Good advice. I don’t have children, but September is always a time of renewal for me. I make new plans and just feel physically better with the cooler temps. I love the photo and your suggestion to have a creative date with a journal and a latte!
Have a great weekend.
your suggestions for a wonderful summer ending made me cry. Summer is almost gone, and I feel like I missed it. Too much stress, worry about things I can’t change anyway, feeling so tired from trying to be everything to everyone. But I will hopefully get some pictures this weekend, and try not to cry while I’m taking them! Have a great holiday weekend.
I LOVE this photo! I would hang this in my house!
I’m going to Hood River this weekend with a girlfriend…going dancing tonight in Portland, white water rafting, wine tasting and doing a crazy (organized) swim across the Columbia River on Monday. I’m ready to enjoy my one little bout of summer left!
Hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for the wonderful blog! Love the photo of Pascaline.
Hugs to you, Brian and the kiddos.

love this blog Me Ra! It seems it takes somebody to tell us to take time for “me”. I am going to do this sometime this weekend!
You’re the best!!!
Love,
Sue
Does cleaning out your garage count?
Ok, this was not a hard assignment. The weekend has been gorgeous so we finally headed to the ocean for an afternoon at the beach with the kids. The kids played in the water and I played with my new camera – I don’t know who had more fun.

Wow, I’m so glad you all liked the photo! Pascaline seemed to be in her own world when I took this. Just felt like one of those magical moments. I’m glad you picked up on the same feeling.
I know we have today before the weekend is over, but if you’ve done something for yourself please share!
what a great encouragement. i know that i seem to be more in touch with my need for ‘me’ time then sharon is. or…at least i get to indulge more then she does. but it’s such a great feeling to just sit and forget for a few minutes the weight of our little bubbles that we carry on our shoulders. it’s not really ours to hold any way…but we do. enjoy the simple things. slow down. take time to listen. find your inspiration for the day. love.
thanks me ra. my weekend was fabu! take care.
Because of your post, I sat on the deck overlooking the backyard Monday morning and drank my weekend coffee with a stack of art books next to me. It was ALMOST chilly, but Reggie our cat curled up on my lap and warmed me up just enough. Ahh, quiet. Then the kids discovered me and summer normalcy resumed…but I DID sit long enough for my rearend to get numb, so that’s a decent break! lol
We spent a week on the Oregon Coast & boy do I have the CF cards to prove it!! π
End of Summer!. Usually a sad day for me when the kids go back to school. My husband even takes a little extra time after we drop them off to sit and have coffee in silence with me. Sad, huh? π
Not this year, though. This summer I’ve been trying to work up to the courage to turn my passion for photography into a career. So the first day of school is a new beginning for me, too. After I drop the kids off I’m shooting a pregnant belly for the first time!! You have sown enough seeds that I’m starting to believe I can actually do this.
Thanks Mera. I contemplated going back to work in some pretty mundane fields… and it turns out that this place of passion is where I was really meant to be.
God Bless You… & if you think of it, say a prayer for me. π
[…] did to escape during the three day weekend. So proud of you! If you haven’t shared yet, go to this post and tell us what you did in the […]
My husband and I went for an overnight backpacking trip. (may not exactly seem relaxing, but we really enjoyed doing this together). I hiked the Mt Whintey trail in the eastern sierras and saw one of the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen.
i slept. a lot. i just came back from 2 months overseas, and was tired π needed to get some energy back before getting back to my grad school classes that started yesterday.
