I LOVE Thanksgiving. I think it’s one of my favorite holidays. It doesn’t have the hustle and bustle of Christmas. Instead, it slows life down for me. When I’m done writing this post, I’m going to make pumpkin pies with the kids while the turkey cooks away.
Thanksgiving is going to be an intimate affair this year. We usually spend it with my family, but they are all out of town. Brian and I have had our fill of airports and taxis for awhile. We decided to doing something different. One of our dearest friends, John Louviere, from college is with us. He came all the way from Utah. Our other two college buddies show up tomorrow. I’m so excited to break bread and converse, laugh, reminisce, create new memories, play the piano (been working on a special Thanksgiving song for the kids), then John will probably sing and play the guitar,
and we’ll sip wine until the candles have burned down and the embers in the fire are all that’s left.
I’m thankful for relationships. For being able to connect with friends that have known you for years and thus, can finish your sentences. I’m thankful for music. I’m thankful when I think of the way my kids’ faces will light up when we surprise them by moving the dining table into the living room for a special Thanksgiving, candle lit dinner. I’m thankful for creativity–the kind that helps us think of new ideas, something out of the box, something we haven’t tried before. I’m thankful for projects taking off. Wow, we had 3500 unique visits to the new website and blog on Tuesday alone. And, get this, we had over 18,000 page visits. I’m thankful that all of you are connecting and enjoying the new sites so much!
Once Sunday night ends, a shift seems to happen. Maybe it’s the feeling of that hustle and bustle in the air. But for now, I feel my soul take a deep breath, and I enjoy this moment of thankfulness.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving friends. I am deeply grateful for all of you.
Much love,
Me Ra and Brian
Happy Thanksgiving you guys! Beautiful post. =)
Happy Thanksgiving!!! You guys are amazing – soak up this day of family and thanks. Much love and God Bless!
I *love* Thanksgiving so much… for exactly the same reasons you mentioned. It feels spacious, relaxing and quiet. Which is much needed at the end of a busy photo season and before the madness of the Christmas season. Happy Thanksgiving Townsend family! 🙂
The site looks wonderful! My wife and I were talking about you over our date night last night. How wonderful to see how you are doing. I am so proud of you!! Happy Thanksgiving to you, Brian and the kids.
enjoy your time! happy thanksgiving from us to you’s. 🙂
Feels so good to read this post – a settling in rather than another hustle out. We’ve been baking, making flower arrangements, talking turkey, had a fire in the over (something about a Chef’s Mark’s high heat turkey method was being used – don’t even know him ;P) and a pilates class at home. Thank you for the love you pour into yourself and pour out to others – both of you. The site is beautiful, fun, inviting and enticing. Love it and you! Happy TG!
Reading you post brought back memories from our family’s Thanksgiving (October for us). You’re right, it is a time for sitting back, relaxing and just enjoying life. We were fortunate enough to have grandma & grandpa come to town for the whole week…there was a lot of laughing and resting…and being entertained by the boys. Now my sister has come from Idaho to visit; I can’t wait to do it all again while we celebrate Thanksgiving with her!
Happy Thanksgiving to the Townsend family and their “extended family”!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and friends, Me Ra.
Just want to wish your family a very Happy Thanksgiving. Have a wonderful day!
Happy Thanksgiving!! Peace and Joy!
a million x’s and o’s – happy thanksgiving (a day late)
Me Ra – your friend John Louviere has a somewhat rare last name. I’ve only ever heard it once before. Is it possible he knows someone here in Georgia named Michael Louviere?
Anyway – I was recently thinking of last year’s Chicago workshop, and how much I enjoyed both you and Brian and how much I got from the experience. I think I need another one like that!
Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to you and the family.
Molly
Molly – everywhere i’ve been my name has been “unique”.; until i moved to Utah (of all places). there are 2 others in salt lake city. my name is rather common down in Louisiana. sort of like Stewart or Fillmore. everyone in Louisiana knows a Louviere somewhere. i, personally, do not know any others besides my brother (Will) and myself. it comes from a small town in France called La Louviere. named for the wolves that used to roam the area. peace and happy holidays.
