Photo Contests!

New Photo Contest Anyone? :)

Me Ra Koh

This morning I head to Charlottesville, Virginia for an engagement shoot tomorrow. I’m hoping the weather turns around because the fall leaves are in full splendor and the forecast is saying rain, rain, rain. So we’ll see what happens. Nonetheless, I’m excited to see Charlottesville. I’ve never been, and yet I’ve heard such great things about how sweet Charlottesville is. And who knows, maybe we’ll get a sun break so we can see this kind of scenery! I found this photographer’s blog last night, and I also loved the Mists of Autumn shot. Check it out!

Speaking of the fall, I was thinking it’s time to start a new photo contest. Any takers!

We need a theme for starters. What types of things have you all been shooting? What ideas come to mind for a theme? Should it be seasonal? Should it have a technical challenge? Should it have a story telling challenge?

Post your ideas, and let’s get a new Photo Contest going this coming week!

  1. A new photo contest would be fun! Seasonal? I’m so excited for fall.

  2. Kelly Nelson says:

Oh Me Ra! You’re going to my favorite place in the world! Charlottesville is beautiful this time of year. Make sure you get breakfast at Bodo’s! I hope you are able to catch a few breaks in the rain and I can’t wait to see your pictures!

  3. Marcia says:

Ohh I am so envious of you for spending time in Charlottesville as I spent many years there. I would like to vote for a fall story telling contest. Living in TX we are some are challenged with finding the changing of the leaves.

    That’s my input…

    Regards,
    Marcia

  4. nicole says:

have a great time in charlottesville. it is beautifu!!

  5. Jen D says:

Ugh- We’ve been planning our trip to the Shenandoah Valley for months trying to time it right to see the great fall foliage they have up here. Today we tried to go to Skyline Drive and couldn’t see 5 feet in front of us because the clouds were so low. I was going to take such great fall pictures this weekend, too, having just been to your workshop last month! I hope you’re at a lower elevation and I’m praying for the sun to burst through as well.

  6. Kim Perea says:

    yes!! new contest!!

  7. Jen Sulak says:

    shoes! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Kari says:

I think the theme of “Fall” is perfect. Then anything goes…

  9. jeramy says:

ok…so fall reminds me of sweaters, and soup, and bigger heat bills…actually, it reminds me of comfort things. as we put away our speedos and our bikinis from summer time and pull out our hoodies and slippers, we get comfortable. start storing up for the winter…right? so, i’d say we should shoot things that conjure up the emotion of comfort. thoughts?

glad the blog is fixed, i’ve been trying to comment since friday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Jessica Young says:

Jeramy, what an awesome idea. I think “comfort” is a great topic for a contest. So many possibilities.

  11. Denise Karis says:

jeramy’s made me laugh. Fall here means slightly less heat (its in the mid 90’s thank goodness) and 50% less electric bills – the air goes off and the windows open. Maybe ‘what fall means where I live…” ๐Ÿ˜› I know my friend who lives in Finland would send in snoooowwwww photos for fall! but yes, fall = comfort no matter where you live for sure

I love how the last contest had a dual purpose

  12. Julie says:

“Out Your Window” It seems like I just keep looking out the window to see the rain, the sky, the wind, and checking the weather with the new season approaching. That would give us lots to play with for a shot with doors, windows, light, reflections, rain, what’s going on outside verse inside, etc.

  13. Fall would be a best time to shoot photos it has a very nice effect on the leaves and grass, nice photo by the way…

  14. Yay photo contest! One I can join instead of host!

And here is Fall in Colorado right now:

  17. Katie J says:

Inspired from your Charlottesville post, I think your contest should be for the unexpected image.

  18. Jessica says:

A great topic for a contest would be “thankful” since Thanksgiving is right around the corner!
