Are you ready for a new photo contest, OR WHAT!! 🙂

Let’s get this party started! It’s an all NEW Photo Contest, AND the theme is going to be a series! I’m so excited!

Here is the deal. The overall theme of the series is going to be VACATIONS, but we’re going to have a couple different focuses. For July, we’re going to focus on taking photos with blurry backgrounds that show depth of field. You don’t have to have an expensive lens to make this happen. If nothing else, you can have your family sit on a curb side at Disneyland and focus on the kid in front to show the depth of field with the second kid and the Mom (or Dad) at the end.

What do I mean by “Depth of Field”? Don’t stress. You can do this. (I KNOW you can not only do it but do a beautiful job at it!) All we’re talking about is showing depth in our images–making our one dimensional images have more of a three dimensional feel. So if you have a lens with the low fstops, you can get your depth by blurring the background, using those low fstops. But if you don’t have a lens with a low fstop, you can show depth and dimension in other creative ways–like lining your family up along the curbside with ice cream cones in hand. Focus on the kid in front, get down low so you can shoot from the hip and give the sense of a never ending line of ice cream eaters. 😉

The only parameter is that the image you enter has to be around the theme of VACATIONS. Your vacation can be a camping trip, the day at Disneyland, the day at the beach that gave your mind a vacation, the family reunion, tent camping in your backyard–anything that got you out of your normal day-to-day and gave some part of your spirit a vacation.

In the past, people have forgotten to give us all their info and thus, we weren’t able to enter their images. I think this form will make sure everyone’s images get entered!
