Photo Contests!

The Lightroom & Photo Contest Winners Are…YOU?!

Me Ra Koh

Say hello to your winning finalists!

This first prize goes to our Top, Top Finalist. This is the Finalist who received the most votes from all our readers.

The winner is Laura from Grand Rapids, Michigan! A big congrats Laura! And I feel like we should say a “hello” to your dad! If he’s tuning in, he should know that your photo along with his tenderness stole the hearts of hundreds of people who voted!

Laura, you get to choose between three prizes! You can either grab your own copy of Adobe Lightroom 2.0 software, the instructional lighting DVD by Carlos Baez, or a 45 minute mentoring session with me! Email Genie, genie@fioria.us, and she will get you set up with your prize and/or a time set up on the calendar for you and I to chat. Thanks Laura for sending in your image! As you can see, I’m not the only one who LOVED it!

At midnight on Sunday we were two votes short of 500. We needed 500 votes by midnight to give a Random Voter Lightroom 2.0. But you know what, 498 sounds good to me. And then a ton of people voted after midnight. SO……

The Random Voter Winner for Adobe’s Lightroom 2.0 is Jasen!! His vote was the following;

on 14 May 2009 at 5:46 pm Jasen

I have to go with #3. Evokes an emotional response for me. Wonderful.

Jasen also has a blog too! Check it out! The image of his son standing next to the bathtub is priceless! Jasen, a big congrats to you for being our Random Lightroom Winner! Email Genie at genie@fioria.us and let us know if you’d like to claim your prize! If you already have Lightroom, we’d love to offer you a 45 min. mentoring session with either me or Brian. Just let us know! And most of all, thanks so much for participating in the voting and leaving feedback!

We have one more prize for a Random Voter. This prize is a $25 Gift Certificate to Starbucks! This winner for this prize is Ceci! Her vote was the following;

on 16 May 2009 at 10:55 am Ceci

They are all great, but I vote for #1.

Check out Ceci’s blog! The first image is just beautiful! A big congrats to you Ceci. Thanks so much for voting for a Finalist, and leaving your feedback. Be blessed my dear, and keep up the beautiful, beautiful photography! Genie will set you up with your Starbucks card so don’t forget to email her too!

I want to give a BIG thank you to ALL the people who sent us their Simple Photo images, special thanks to our Five Finalists (hats off to all five of you!), last but very important, all 509 voters. You make this community the safe and encouraging place that it is. Thanks for sharing yourself with us!

Now I have a question for everyone. It’s the middle of May. What do you say we start a new Photo Contest? What should the theme be? Something more concrete this time like family vacations or summer fun, etc. But what do you think?

And what do you think the GRAND Prize should be? Lightroom again or something else! Just curious what your thoughts are! Post em up today, and we’ll start a new photo contest asap!

Also, if you didn’t see yesterday’s post about the new Sony camera (our colors–pink and brown!), you MUST read it! It’s pretty amazing stuff!

And the prize? A Me Ra Koh Sony camera!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Michelle says:

Congratulations, Laura!!!! This is a truly deserved win. Your image was breathtaking!

Babies is a great contest subject! I’m with Lauren.

  3. Christina says:

    Congratulations Laura, beautiful photo.
Babies is a good subject I also like the idea of summer fun too though. Etither one would be great.
The prize? The 45 min. mentoring session is awesome, Lightroom or yea, the Me Ra camera…LOL

  4. Me Ra, laughter would be fun. or flags for Memorial Day/Flag Day and Armed Forces Day??

  5. Camille says:

I did not get the chance to vote but my fav won!!! And I am just getting into photography thanks to my great friend so I am thinking the next prize should be the Sony camera ๐Ÿ™‚ I agree with Lauren!!!

  6. Sharon says:

Congrats Laura! Your image is lovely!

    For a contest… how’bout families?

  7. jeramy says:

    congrats to all the winners!

so…photo contest….i’m thinking every one should do rick’s assignment. the self portrait with the statement. and for a prize….i’m thinking a new brown/pink camera….ehhhh?

btw, did you announce the winner of the last camera? did i miss that somehow?

  8. shawna says:

congrats to all the winners, how exciting! i think the next theme should be SPLASHES! how summery is that? and action makes for a fun challenge, too. plus then you can include your babies if you have them. ;o) i really like the prizes you’ve been offering, especially the new one of a consultation. thanks for all the inspiration here!

  9. Denise karis says:

Laura, congratulations! Yours was lovely!! Go for the 45 minute mentoring session – it would be absolutely amazing! MeRa, keep that as an option next contest – I was so completely crossing my fingers for it this time around – maybe next time ๐Ÿ˜›

New contest theme could be favorite american passtimes? Or Summer – did we already do summer last year? Or what about ‘your favorite photo of all time’ – oh man, could you imagine the competition???

  10. Samantha says:

    Congratulations Laura!

I’ve just recently jumped into the community here and can’t wait to participate in the photo contest… I was thinking that “Summer Fun” would be cool – kind of leaves it wide open. Or how about “The Dog Days of Summer”? That theme has even more interpretations! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Congratulations Laura! Great image!

  12. chelsie says:

    Congratulations Laura!!!!!
I think that the prize should stay lightroom… its quite useful. And just throwing it out there as an idea… its the time of year when everyone is graduating… since im a senior im thinking about it.. but almost everyone knows someone graduating from college or high school… just a thought. =)

  13. Jen Sutton says:

I think we should do “Moving On”. There are a lot of people that move in the summer, move on to the next grade, move on in the next stage of life (graduation), move on in getting over a life obstacle, or move on in the next stage of being a toddler, etc. I think it encompasses every stage of life.

  14. Well, I just had a baby so babies would be easy for me BUT the self-portrait idea is great and would be sooo challenging.
The prize??? A MeRa camera, of course…duh! Or an over the phone mentoring session would be PRICELESS!!

  15. Oh and I forgot to say congrats to Laura! I’m sure you know how blessed you are to have a father like that. What a cool dad! Your image is just as heirloom worthy as the gift itself.

  16. Janessa says:

I love all the ideas that have been suggested thus far. Babies (mine is turning one!? How is that possible!?), summer fun, families, self portrait (yikes!) and moving on. Just reading all of the suggestions makes me want to run from my desk, pick up my camera and start shooting away!

As for the prize, I think either a 101 kit or an over the phone mentoring session with you would be awesome!

Ah! I’ve worked myself into a creative lather (runs to grab camera)…
