I decided to ask the kids what they wanted for Christmas, wondering if I’m anywhere close in what I suspect.
Pascaline and Blaze’s eyes lit up and Pascaline said, “I’m so glad you asked mama because we actually have been talking about this! We have a great idea! It’s just one thing that we want. And we’re going to share it! So you don’t have to get us both something, just this one thing and we’ll do a great job sharing it!” I look over at Blaze to see if he’s on board with sissy’s idea, and he is nodding in agreement to every word Pascaline says.
And of course, I’m thinking, ‘Wow, really! They just want one thing, and they want to share it. Whose kids are these? My kids! My awesome kids! They aren’t caught up into gifts. Look at this! They only want one thing. Man, we’re awesome parents!’
“What is the one thing you two want?” I ask. I’m already visualizing myself jumping in the car heading out during their nap time to get this ONE thing and make their every Christmas dream come true.
“We want a FLYING MACHINE!” yells Pascaline.
Blaze jumps up and stands on his chair and yells “Yeah! A BIG FYING CHINE!”
Pascaline clears her throat to let me know she’s not only excited but super serious. “We’ve talked about this a lot mama, and we want the kind of flying machine where two people can sit in it at the same time and go high up in the air. We want to be able to fly as HIGH as the airplanes that you and dad are on so we can wave to you outside the windows! And we want the flying machine to also be a time machine. Can you get it for us?! It would be the BEST Christmas if you and dad got it!”
“De VEST CHISMAS!” yells Blaze.
….yep, not sure what to say.

That is too cute!!!!
You can probably take the kids up for pretty cheap at a local flight school – probably 1-2 hundred dollars for a one-hour flight. Or pay for two flights so that they each have time in the cockpit. You can also see if there is an EAA Young Eagles (google that) at your local airports and give them a call. They do special programs where pilots take kids up for an introductory flight to get them interested in aviation.
I know it’s not their OWN flying machine and it probably won’t have any time travel features (LOL) but I bet they’d love love love it. ๐
I can’t get Christmas present ideas out of my 11 year old son to save my life – got a few video game ideas but other than that he really doesn’t care. I guess that’s good in a way, but it makes for stressful shopping. The baby is easy to please, at least. She’ll be happy as long as there are wrapping paper scraps and boxes to play in.
That is absolutely HILARIOUS!
Hey, you got to give it to them for having a wonderful imagination though!
OMG, that is the cutest thing!
Sooo freakin funny! I can totally picture their super excited faces as they talk about flying machines! Hahaha do you think they stay up at night chatting and talking about how they’d use it and how they are going to get one? They are so smart! So are you and brian heading down to airplanes-r-us tonight or what? =)
Your kids are AWESOME! I love that.
That’s awesome!
Your kids are great! Really great! What are you going to do? Nothing is going to measure up? How can you NOT get them a flying time machine? Then again how CAN you get them a flying time machine? I bet they could just see you and Brian in the plane taking pictures of them out the windows! How funny!
You need to turn this into a book for them! How cute would that be?!! Pascaline and Blaze and Their Super Flying Time Machine, would make a great story!
Sounds like you better get on the horn and try to track one of Flying/Time Machines down! I wonder if they’re listed in the yellow pages!? ๐
“one of THOSE Flying/Time Machines”
-excuse my poor typing skills. I tend to get a little ahead of myself and leave important words out!
Could not have been funnier if it was scripted in Hollywood!
That’s hilarious! Thank you so much for sharing that story–it was a good laugh!
That is too funny and too cute! And it will be fun to remind them of that request later in life. ๐
So cute! I love that! My girls are asking for a talking Mountain that their stuffed puppies can slide down!?! Any ideas on that one?! LOL
That is just hilarious!! My standard reply to such requests is to gently suggest that some items are too big for Santa’s sleigh and that he would not be able to fly. It’s worked so far! ๐
Would they take a magic carpet. They and you could try to make it fly. Good Luck.
Wow super cute! Sounds like its time for Brian to get on his crafty hat and get out some cardboard boxes! Have fun making this one.
what a great a moment to file under favorite Christmas memories one day. Merry Christmas
Oh my! I love the part about them wanting to fly up next to your airplane and wave at you….aaawwww, that made me choke back tears. Their little imaginations are amazing at that age. I miss mine being that young! Enjoy and savor every moment of their sweet lives. BTW, you and Brian are great parents. We can see it through their beautiful expressions and your love for them. Have a very merry and blessed Christmas!!!
ok you kind of HAVE TO get them a flying machine now – thats way too cute
That is hilarious! They are soo cute! And they’re still awesome kids!
they are awesome kids, and that made me laugh so good! : )
Why don’t you try drawing a comic/story in which your kids build one or get one for Christmas, and all of the adventures they go on or people they meet. Maybe they fly to the store. Maybe they fly to Thailand! In the story they can wave to mom in the plane, and best of all Pascaline can read it to Blaze. You might have time to get it professionally printed, but either way, what a great momento that would be for them to have. You could publish a children’s story book!
A close second would be a plane ride up in a Cessna, though. That’s on my list to do with my kids, too.
http://www.danzanes.com/bambam/song_flying.shtml
don’t know if the link will work but it’s a sample of a flying machine kid’s son ๐
I meant kid’s SONG ๐
seems like a perfectly reasonable request. ๐
They’re just THE BEST! And, I do have friends with the flying machine…probably it’s a time machine too but they’re just not saying. I can’t wait to see who Pasc and Blaze grow up to be, they’re soooooooamazing now! Well, they’re so adorable I can keep waiting a good while. So lucky to have you two as their parents!
#5
Takes me back to the Movie
Voting for image #5. Love the rich bold colors – composition and the way the light reflects of the sequins of the shoes…makes you want to put the shoes on and click your heels together, just what a strong image should do evoke a feeling, emotion or memory when viewed.
# 2 I think the onsie and the way it is captured in this photo really highights emotion and meaning that any parent can understand. There’s a softness about it, and I like the angle the photographer used in taking the picture. Great job!
#5 – I like the light and the way it shows that they are sparkling.
I love love love #3!!
It captures the essence of every coffee addict’s reason for loving this magnificent drink.
#5 – love the light on the shoes, fantastic photo
#5. Beautiful Photograph.
