How to Photograph Baby When They Can’t Sit Up

Me Ra Koh

Let’s move off the floor.  Storytelling is all about three basic elements.  One of them is identifying Defining Details.  One of my favorite Defining Details during the first three months of baby’s life is that precious hair swirl.  Have mom or dad hold baby up, and get in close focusing on baby’s swirl.  Hint:  If you love that buttery, blurred background like I do, the closer you get to baby, the more blurred mom becomes.  I love blurring mom in the background because it makes her emotion that much more significant since the sharpness of her smile isn’t competing with baby’s hair swirl.
