You may have noticed that some of my recent photos have this enhanced blur. Did I do this in Photoshop or Lightroom? Nope! The photos are straight out of the camera! Insane, right?!
SONY has rolled out with a handful of new, award winning cameras in the last year. Two of my favorites are the Sony DSC-RX100 and the more recent Sony SLTA99, full frame DSLR. One is just under $700. The other is over $2700. Depending on what you are looking for in a camera makes all the difference. I’ll let you do your own research on the many features of these two cameras. But there is one feature that may be easy to overlook.
The Creative Styles gives you more than twenty different ways to process your images in camera. One of my favorite Creative Style choices is the Miniature setting that gives photo results similar to shooting with a Tilt Shift lens allowing you to have extreme blur on the top and bottom third of your frame. Or maybe some of you have experienced with a Lens Baby. I love that dramatic blur, but the Tilt Shift lens is a ton of money, and the Lens Baby doesn’t always give me the control I want in what is blurred and what is in focus. Instead of spending up to two thousand more dollars on a Tilt Shift lens, it’s now a camera setting!
Check this out! This is Blaze playing in the snow BEFORE I turned use the Creative Styles options.
This is Blaze in the same spot AFTER I used the Creative Styles in camera to process the image. Dreamy, right?!
See how it leaves the middle of the frame in focus from left to right, but then it blurs the top and bottom third?
This is moss growing on the wall BEFORE I turned on the Creative Styles feature.
This is moss looking CRAZY COOL AFTER I used the Creative Styles!
Isn’t that so cool! I was cracking up with Brian because if you didn’t know it was moss, it could almost look like an aerial shot from a helicopter! 🙂
Again, I didn’t do hardly any post process because the Creative Styles processing is in the SONY cameras and already adds a punch of contrast for you.
As photographers, we sometimes need a little something fun or extra to make photography feel new again. This little camera feature has me re-shooting every thing around me with a new eye.
I can’t wait to try it out in Egypt!!
Have any of you tried it? I would LOVE to see your photo results! Post them up on my FB page!
