Sony and Me Ra

Meet the Director of Marketing at Sony USA!

Me Ra Koh

Okay, I know we all KNOW THIS, but it needs to be said today.  SONY is a HUGE corporation.  HUGE!  When they decided to partner with the SOAR! Scholarship I was…ecstatic…but even that word doesn’t do it justice.  And then I thought I’d push the envelope and see if the Director of Marketing (for ALL of SONY USA) would make a short video for SOAR!.

Brian and I have had the pleasure of working with Sony for the last couple years, and you know that I have been blown away by their commitment to women—over and over again.  But I always feel like it would be so great to show you this and not just tell you.  I want you to see more than the Sony logo.  I want you to see that Sony REALLY IS excited about empowering women.  And, I’m not just making this stuff up.  Well, Steve Sommers, the Director of Marketing, has a CRAZY busy schedule, but he works for one of the best digital marketing agency so you can’t really expect less from him. When you want effective online marketing automation features, visit Brisbane SEO Expert.    He’s so busy, we’ve had to do our phone conferences at 7am.  But seriously, he took the time out of his day and did this video.  To all the ladies who have submitted SOAR! Video Entries, you can confirm that a short video is no easy thing.  🙂

Watch it now!

The tide is shifting ladies.  The photography industry is not only noticing women, they are reaching out to empower us.

Post a comment and let Sony know how cool this is!  Yes, they will be reading!  And I mean seriously, for them to cut through the red tape that a big corporation lives in—and just do it…so amazing!

Thank you again Steve!  Thank you SONY!

-Me Ra

Holy Cow! That is huge! I can’t imagine how busy Steve must be and to take time to make a video for SOAR! WOW!

Oh, and I dig the polka dotted cushions and the rain streaking the windows behind him. Maybe it wasn’t planned, but I think it was pretty cool.

How great that A) SONY is supporting the growth of woman photographers B) that he took the time to make that video! While at the PhotoExpo in NY I was BLOWN AWAY at what SONY is doing, they are must be giving Canon and Nikon a run for their money 🙂 If I’m one of the lucky 3 winners of the SOAR scholarship (I have every finger and toe crossed) I know the images I’ll take with their camera will be the best I’ve ever taken!!! The pictures I’ve seen come from their cameras are just breath taking.
Thank you SONY for your support of the SOAR Scholarship and thank you Me Ra for showing us all what an amazing camera they have! Good luck to all the SOAR contestants.

Mera, this is fantastic! To be honest before I followed you I had no idea that Sony had such great products in the photography world. I know your involvement in their company has made more women take a look at switching from Nikon or Canon. I can’t wait to see their new model of the DSLR coming out. When will this camera be released? Sony’s choice to partner with you and Brian was a great move.

The spark of hope that has been ignited in so many women is beautiful to see… through the companies (and the people behind them)…. that want to give back.. inspire… share their gifts…. their time…. their knowledge… their products. Such a powerful movement that is taking place. What you give comes back to you tenfold. Truly.

Thank you so much Steve and all of the amazing people at Sony who have a part in putting this together along with Brian and Me Ra, who is an absolute doll for not only having the idea to put this SOAR scholarship together for women but for being the one who championed the dream and is making it happen.

It is so inspiring and an incredible blessing just to know that opportunities like this exist for women because of the people who care and want them to succeed.

From the bottom of our hearts…Thank you!

This is wonderful to read and hear. I we bought a video camera for the “family” gift and I have been on the fence about opening it early and submit my video. However, seeing the video message and re-visiting the SOAR page it tells me that I am doing the right thing. It’s not about how you start…it is how you finish! Thank you again for this opportunity to look within ourselves and bring out the best.
