Seattle Confidence Workshops are a very peaceful place for me.  There is something “really good” about hosting workshops in your hometown (maybe it is because I get to sleep in my own bed)??  No really, Brian and I are so blessed to have held so many Confidence Workshops in our hometown.  Each and every one of them holds a special place in our hearts, each and every one of them brings so many new friends into our lives, and each and every one of them is filled with such special women that are bursting at the seams with excitement and waiting, just waiting, for that extra little push toward empowerment.

Our ladies from the Seattle May Confidence Workshop really stepped it up a notch with their Day 1-Baby Models.  They did so well understanding the technical side of the camera. There were so many wonderful images, it was hard to pick a couple from each attendee that submitted their images.  I am here to tell you, “There were so many more!”

The image on the right from Jessica Little makes me laugh out loud.  All types of baby faces are just adorable, aren’t they?

Oh Darcy Pace, the image on the left shows so much love and affection.  There is perfect “space” between them.

This little guy was just the sweetest thing.  I love your composition, Carmalee Baker with mom’s back and baby’s face.  And your black and white image shows such tenderness.  Beautiful!

Fabia Distefano, I love your composition on these two images with mom’s smile and baby’s eyes at a “rule of thirds” cross.  They both work so well!

On Day 2 is when we usually talk about Lightroom and how easy it is to convert images to a really sharp, stunning black and white.  I just love your B&W image Chantelle Scheyer!
This is just pure joy watching a young mom adore her baby!  Nice captures Joanna McArdle!

As I talk about in “Your Baby in Pictures“…like capturing a baby’s toes, don’t forget to tell the story of their hands as well.   Kim Ebert,  the beautiful, even light on your baby image on the right is spectacular!  You found great light!

Oh Shelly Pelley, I look at your image on the right and I can see an intense connection between a mom and her baby.  WOW!  Gorgeous!

The fleeting hair swirl…Terri Seal, I love how you framed this shot with the moms arm.  Your other shot…well it makes me want to hold that little bambino right now!  So precious!

Jen Stegeman captured both moms looking stunning in these images.  During those newborn sessions, “Let Mom Shine”.

Kandi Petorak, you did such a great job of using a very simple background to help your subject stand out more.  Totally loving the red hair!  Awesome!

Kristen Schoon, look how you caught this little baby intently looking at mommy!  And again, the tenderness and protectiveness I see in your second image shines right through!

I just want to snuggle with this little one.  I love that you have “dead” space on half of the image, with a beautiful simple background.  I also love that mom has a tiny smile on her face while she is kissing her baby.  Fantastic Melissa Jones!

I cannot stress enough how details of your baby change so fast and you must document them at all stages.  The little hands and chunky face (with an adorable tongue:) that Rachel McGinn captures will be totally different in even one month.

There was no other picture like the feet picture that Andrea Walters saw through her lens.  Completely fantastic!

Lara McClusky, mom is looking so beautiful and he is completely soaking in her love.  Awesome light!

Melissa Leady and Roxanne Speigel both have images that are shining with bright, even light.  I love mom’s soft still face in the top right image, yet getting mom in the image with a smile on her face give the picture a whole different feel.  Love them you two!

Capturing a baby innocense, curiosity and innate ability to enjoy life at an early age is exactly what Raelene Kerner did!  I love the motion of the second image.  She is so happy and her eyes are completely in focus!

It is so important to make new mommies feel as beautiful as they look and Sara Arrigoni did this for sure.  Wonderful images of mommy and baby!

Now for some fun “Behind the Scenes of Day 1”!

Ms. Julie Watts, I love when you come to help us at our local workshops and you are such a huge inspiration and mentor in our forums.  Thank you!

Ladies, thank you so much for a fantastic weekend.  Part 2 of your Seattle Confidence Workshop will be coming on September 6th, complete with even more “Behind the Scenes” images.  So fun!

XOXO

someday i need to see that hotel with the great orange couch.

  3. Raelene says:

Oh my goodness Me Ra you have perfect timing! I have been “crying” over a blown-out sky (with beautiful metering on the faces thanks to you!) and some other rookie type mistakes I made a few days ago. Just when I was feeling really down I see this and it brings back all the excitement and power of that weekend. Thank you for everything, you rock!

  4. Sara A says:

Thanks for posting these! It’s such a great reminder of what was a truly wonderful weekend.

  5. Michelle says:

LOVE LOVE LOVE all these images! They made me smile!!!!

  6. Me Ra Koh says:

Yeah!! So proud of you ladies!!! Look at your BEAUTIFUL photos! You are all so creative with such a beautiful eye for the world around you.

Raelene, I’m proud of you for hanging in there. I still make silly mistakes all the time. The difference is to not give up, not listen to the voices that say you shouldn’t be playing. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone has more to learn, remember, progress not perfection.

I think some of you ladies should seriously think about entering these photos in the New Beginnings Photo Contest!

And what do you think of the collage of photos?!!! Trying to show off more of your work. You like?

I love the collages! Just seeing these pictures reinvigorates me, and I’m so excited for all those who will get to share in this experience in the fall, too.

And Me Ra, maybe you get sick of hearing this, but I cannot even tell you what this workshop meant for me. I’m not even sure where it is all leading yet (and perhaps that’s part of the beauty of it!), but you planted seeds that I am trying to nourish. I cannot wait to see what this coming year holds for all of us. You and Brian gave us all something wonderful–a space to be honest and real and learn, and the technical skills to start making our printed pictures as beautiful as the images we see in our mind. Thank you so much for all you do!

  8. Me Ra says:

Sara, I never get sick of it. You have no idea how much your words mean. Thank you so much. Truly, it means the world.

    love you dear,
    Me Ra

Thank you for sharing these images. As a mommy model that day, I had a wonderful time at the workshop. The images bring me back to when Milo was so much smaller. I can’t wait for my turn behind the lens next weekend!
