Saturday, October 13th 2007–Photography 101 for Women! (the beginners workshop again!!)
One Advanced Workshop (you asked for this–you got it! :)) $450 pp
Saturday, October 27th 2007–This workshop if for both men and women who understand the basics but want to learn more about lighting techniques, post process work (like how I use Photoshop), and shooting techniques in tough situations. (I’m sharing ALL my Photoshop secrets in this one!) Limit is 20 participants.
**Please note: If you’d like to sign up for both, we would be more than happy to give you a discount of $150 off so that your total is $750 instead of $900. We’ll send you a specific invoice for this, so email or call and let us know if this is something you’d like to receive.
The fun details are below (with more details at our e-store)!!! But first, here is a special trailer to give you a peak at what the workshops look and feel like! Make sure your volume is up!!
Wasn’t that cool! Josh did such a great job with the filming and editing! Okay, back to the details!!
Where: The elegant estate, The Villa, in Tacoma, WA (see it below!) Tacoma is 25-30 minutes south of Seattle.
Time: 9:30am-4:30pm (if you can join us for breakfast come as early as 9am!)
What to Bring: a “I’m going to go for it and have a blast” attitude! 🙂 (even if this camera stuff overwhelms me b/c I know I can do this!), a Notepad, Pen, Warm Clothing for Shooting Outside, and a Digital SLR camera if you have one (don’t hesitate to come if you don’t have one b/c I have 8 cameras and a number of lenses, so we should be good! J) What’s a Digital SLR? A camera that has the ability to swap out different types of lenses.
Meals: A Wonderful Catered Breakfast and Lunch will be served to us by the Villa’s wonderful chef and hostess, Kristy. There will be cold drinks, coffee, tea and an afternoon snack as well.
Workshop Cost: $450 (a couple women are making this there Christmas or Birthday gift!)
Workshop Cost for a Refresher Seat: $200 (a Refresher Seat is reserved for someone who attended one of our workshops before and wants to sit in on it a second time. Four Refresher Seats set aside for each workshop.)
The class size for the beginner workshops are limited to 12 women who are newbies and 3 women who are reserving a refresher seat. We like to keep the group small so that we can maximize your learning experience.
Content Covered:
For the Beginner Workshop: We’ll spend the first half of the day going over the mechanics of your camera and learning about indoor lighting so you can get great shots of your kids in the kitchen, living room and bedroom! The second half of the day we’ll do some hands on shooting as we process all the things we’ve learned throughout the morning. You don’t need a camera with removable lenses for this workshop, you can totally borrow one of ours.
For the Advanced Workshop: If you have a basic understanding of aperture, shutter speed and ISO but struggle with your light metering and fluency with your camera’s settings while on the go, this is the workshop for you. We’ll take the mechanics and functions of your camera to a higher level. Me Ra’s also excited to address the request so many have emailed her “Will you show us what you do in Photoshop!?” The answer is “Yes!” In the Advanced Workshop, you’ll learn about Me Ra’s workflow and her ten favorite actions/filters for images. If you have a laptop with Photoshop or a similar program please bring it. It’s not necessary but great to have if you have it!
Terms: You can either pay in full on our e-store, or email us about mailing a retainer (non-refundable fee) of $350 to reserve your seat. But please keep in mind that this is a first come first serve basis, and the best want to ensure your spot in a workshop is through our e-store. The remaining balance of $100 (total is $450) must be paid in full 14 days before the workshop date. Call us if you have any questions at 253-468-8913, or email mera@fioria.us.
Lodging: The workshop is taking place at the Villa, and Kristy has four beautiful rooms available to guests. She is offering a 15% discount to workshop attendees, so whether you’re flying in or local, I’d check at their rooms and take advantage of her generous offer! Call Kristy at 253-572-1157.
If they’re booked up, five minutes from the workshop is a new hotel on the waterfront called The Silver Cloud Inn. The room rate is $159 plus tax. This rate comes with a water view from every room (the whole inn is literally over the water ), complimentary breakfast, King Size bed or two Queen Size beds, Free Parking and Free Internet Access. The Silver Cloud Inn is only two miles from the Chihuly’s Museum of Glass, the Tacoma Art Museum, Point Defiance Park and Zoo. There is a beautiful boardwalk right outside the doors of the hotel that follows the beach (a 3.5 mile jog my husband and I often do! ). One block away is the center of Old Town, filled with coffee shops and tea houses, and a couple quaint restaurants. There are also bigger restaurants all along the waterfront boardwalk (The Lobster Shop, The Ram, Katie Downs, etc). There were a handful of people in the last few workshops that stayed an extra night to enjoy how sweet this part of the country is!
To reserve your spot now, visit our e-store and click the appropriate workshop, whether you are doing the Beginner, Advanced or attending as a Refresher Seat (no Refresher Seats available for the Advanced Workshop this time around)! You will be given the option to pay your deposit with a credit card. You can also email us for our mailing address to mail a check.
