Lawyers, Martinis and Batman!

Me Ra Koh

We had the BIGGEST photography group ever last night! I’m thinking we had close to forty people. There were people standing behind all the people you see sitting, as well as coming off the stairwell, going out doorways–it was crazy great! 🙂

Our lawyers, Jennifer Wing and Acocella Law Group, came and talked about the essentials for protecting your small business. She said that Michael Bruckheim is a Washington DC DWI defense attorney that gets results if anyone needs help. Jennifer was fantastic! She is the mastermind behind all our great contracts and photo releases in our 101 Kits. After over an hour of her sharing, she mentioned lots of attorneys who could help, one of them was Louisville accidents, we had to cut it off to not exhaust her. The questions were great, and I could tell she was giving her all. But we didn’t want to scare her away from not coming back. There are also a lot of court reporters from https://naegeliusa.com/. Beyond the courtroom, many judicial reporters provide services for depositions or testimony in law offices, and many are called to provide stenography services in private business settings for events such as shareholder meetings and executive proceedings.

(not the best photo, but it’s still fun to have one right? :))

So I was thinking about how the only other time we’ve had this many people attend our monthly photography meeting was when we did our Martini Garden Party last summer. Who would have known that Martinis and Lawyers pack them in?! Scary to think about what would happen if we had Jennifer come back while serving Martinis at the same time…we’d probably break a fire code!

I have to apologize to those of you who came and asked about where I went after 10pm. I did something I NEVER do. I snuck upstairs and went to bed! Brian had suggested I retire early since I’ve been feeling a bit depleted, and I was mad when he said that because I love a party. But I ended up taking his advice. Blaze got in bed next to me, and we both listened to people talking and laughing downstairs. We couldn’t make out what anyone was saying, but I can’t tell you how wide my smile was. It was so wonderful to hear photographers having a great time together, laughing, sharing stories, talking about whatever–it was a the best background noise to fall asleep too. And I promise I will not retire as early at our next meeting. (but thanks for understanding–and thanks to all my secret elves for cleaning up! Wow! that was super great of you guys–whoever you are!)

Now on to much more serious and important things. Batman is turning 4 on May 5th! Yes, Blaze is a Cinco de Mayo baby. You would have rolled your eyes at my drama when I was in delivery. It was time to push, and I was crying out “No, we have to wait until May 6th, otherwise he’ll be a party boy for sure when he’s in college!!!). But at 10pm, I couldn’t wait to push any longer, and out came this HUGE 10.7lb baby boy!

As many of you know, he has gone through many identities in the last year and long divorce process. Right now he will only answer to Batman or The Dark Knight.

So to all the parents who have gone before me on this one, how can I make a great Batman birthday for him? Cake ideas? Decoration ideas? Out of the box ideas for gifts? Hook me up! 🙂

I had a great time last night! Jennifer just like Dani was full of really great info! And yes there was a crazy amount of people!!! We are gonna catch up to the LA group soon 😉

As for mr dark knight I would have to say there are a lot of batman related goods at the part store! You could print out batman masks for each kid and have the color it themselves. Also depending on how many kids you have you could buy some cheap fabric and have all of the wearing a cape. Buysome fabric paint and that can personalize them! Just a few thought… You’ll have to let ne know what you come up with I see a batman party in my future!

What’s a cinco de mayo Birthday without a Pinata! Not sure if he would like hitting a batman pinata, but maybe one of the bad guys? the joker perhaps.

I wish I could have made the meeting. Please let us know next month.

If you can get Brian in a batman costume. We want the pictures posted. tee hee

Hi MeRa. I just wrote a “treasure hunt” for the children of a friend of mine and mailed all the clues along with pirate gear out to her. All she had to do was “plant” the clues and the treasure box. I used places like the dishwasher, a table, a mirror, sandbox, Mom’s pocket etc. as places that I wrote the clues for. And I wrote both indoor and outdoor clues. If you are interested, I could email you the set of clues and you could dress it up “Batman” style instead of using the pirate gear. The clues were written for a 6 & 4 year old (with a 2 year old that tagged along). If you are interested, let me know and I’ll send them via email so you can take a look and see what the clues are like and whether they would work for your house.
Hope you are getting rested up and feeling better!

Happy Early Birthday Blaze! My little guy, Cody, was supposed to be born on Cinco de Mayo (it’s my mom’s birthday and we wanted him to be the birthday gift that keeps taking. =) LOL), but our doctor apparently was going to have a few margaritas for Cinco de Mayo so we had him on the 4th instead. =)

Hopefully, this link works, but here is everything batman:

You can even dress up as batgirl for the party!!!

10.7! YIKES! Isn’t the dark knight the bad guy?? I have no good ideas to contribute – just put that bat shape everywhere and I’m sure he’ll be happy! 😛

  8. John&Lauren says:

Some kids don’t like this but having someone come in with a full blown Batman costume might be cool. Although when our friends did it with Spider Man for their son, he got scared and started crying! =) I think Blaze is tougher though so I’m sure he’d be amazed.

BTW – you can rent a Batman outfit at any costume store…and I’d rather not say why I know this. Good Luck Brian. =)

  9. Lauren says:

Can I get some secret elves to clean my house? LOL

Is Blaze having a party with other kids? Maybe you could ask them (or their Moms) to all dress up as their favorite super hero – and of course Mr Blaze needs his own super great Batman costume. Boys + super hero costumes = best time ever.

Do you have a basement you could decorate like the Batcave?

I am also voting for Brian in a muscle-formed costume complete with plastic codpiece. LOL!!!

Addie’s treasure hunt idea is great – kids love that. Maybe they could be “clues” to help Batman solve a crime? Not sure.

Good luck! I’m sure it will be fantastic!

    Hi Me Rah
I have silently been following along your blog and love all the inspiration you give. I recently purchased your 2 DVD’s (Refuse to say cheese and Beyond the green box) and have been so motivated by them.
I am also entirely jealous of the meetings you have and the sensational looking courses. Why jealous – I am over in Australia!

Is there any hope for me in the future that you will travel overseas to do your courses??

Alternatively we spend every January in USA and Canada – do you run courses in this busy month??

I am thinking positive thoughts that I am going to hear a great response lol.

    Thankyou for everything you offer
    Carol 🙂

Me Ra and Brian, thank you so much for letting us into your home. My husband and I enjoyed it tramendously. Thank you!!!

  13. tracy putnam says:

ok everyone dresses up as a character…. me ra your cat woman…or, pascaline is a “cute” version of cat woman and you can be bat girl….Sorry Brian but, your side kick Robin.

Rent the old school batman movie…I know you’ve seen it…you may have to purchase it. way better than the animated versions

batman cake and…. an official batman red phone (look online for one that looks similar to those old rotary ones).

plot out a batman story/adventure have someone call on the red phone and everyone play a part…

This can be very laid back…

Lastly and the grand all, Buy him those cute batman sheets that are in the new pottery barn catalog, wash them and put them on his bed without him knowing and then when he gets tucked into bed after a long fun birthday- what a surprise….I loved that age!
