Cathleen has been helping women achieve greatness for decades! She is an INSPIRATION! A bright light, shining hope and possibility into women’s lives.

Just yesterday she texted me “I wanted to tell you that I love my Rising Phoenix Collection on the wall so much so I look at it every day! And I love being able to see myself in such a joyful place and know that I can be in that place every day!”

“I also love this one with my hand on my heart. I’m so grateful to God for all of the challenges and dark places that really caused me to grow in my relationship with Him. I wasn’t buried, I was planted. And my roots have grown so much in my security in the Lord. That’s where He wants our security to be. I’ll love, love, love all my Rising Phoenix portraits!”

These last two years, Cathleen took her own personal goals to a new level. She proved there is still more greatness within herself to tap into! With dedication and determination, Cathleen lost 70lbs!

She flew in from Pennsylvania for her Rising Phoenix Experience. And when she got out of the car, I almost didn’t recognize her!

“The physical example of what I can do internally, makes me want to help women achieve greatness that much more!” she said.

Inspiration for This Dress

Her sister, Charleen, inspired this flowing dress when she described Cathleen as being free in this new season. “She is no longer tethered. She is worthy of taking care of herself. Her personality exudes God’s grace. I would not be where I am without her. She’s my rock. I love her to death.”

What is Rising from the Ashes

Cathleen says JOY is rising up from the ashes. The last ten years have held a lot of loss from losing her mom to other relationships. Throughout her life she has also struggled with beating up on herself because she might seem to move slower than those around her. “But I did it! I did it! I accomplished a major goal! God is able to do immeasurably more than we could ever ask for!”

“The weight loss has unleashed more than I could imagine! I feel my own personal genius unleashed! And I don’t have to apologize for it! I love creating atmospheres for women to step into.”  

This amazing woman has been helping women achieve greatness through her Mary Kay business for over thirty years. She helps lead a Bible Study at Mary Kay for over 200 women. I love how she said, “Right now, my voice is needed in this culture.”

There is a special story to the dress she’s wearing below, but first let me tell you what her husband says.

“There are so many things! How she’s fought back from adversity and even disasters the last few years. Always had resilience like Michael Jordan who missed 9K shots! She is incredibly adaptive with a “We can do this!” focus. The glass is always half full to Cathleen. She has an eternal optimistic approach, biblical principles that guide her. Her eyes say “I’m ready to battle through whatever it takes.”

“She faces criticisms with grace. Her eyes never go dim. In Mary Kay, there are a lot of Type A personalities, but Cathleen isn’t that way. The success in her weight loss has helped her see that what she brings to the table is also important! She sees it and believes it and has gone more this year than ever.

Special Story Behind the Dress

“One of my weight goals was to fit into this dress because it was Tim’s favorite. I haven’t fit into it in over 25 years! But I didn’t tell him I was trying to get into it so he didn’t even know it fit me. That night after my Rising Phoenix Experience, I FaceTimed him surprising him with the dress on!

His response, “WOW! That’s awesome!”

Cathleen got one of our beautiful block prints as a gift for Tim that he sees every day in his office. So sweet! Right?!

What Her Daughter Shares

“My mom is positivity. She has this uncanny ability to see the positive in things and never quits,” shares Michaela. “That’s why she has found success. She always gets back up on her feet. Even when she experiences a big loss, my mom doesn’t let it get to her belief in what she’s doing. That would shake me! My mom is resilient.”

“She cultivated creativity in me. My mom always encouraged me to keep going and find my own creative expression. She is 1000% creative! A phenomenal singer and songwriter, a worship leader now, she’s growing a lot!”

What is Your Mom’s Super Power?

“How she wraps every product with crazy intricate bows, beautiful notes, curating experiences for people to feel so special. Her Mary Kay parties are always themed in incredible ways.”

“When she sees her Rising Phoenix in her office, I hope she sees that inner confidence coming out in spirit. As a daughter, you look to your mom for confidence because you secretly hope it’s in you…”

I love that last statement by Michaela. It’s so true. Our daughters look to us to discover what is within them.

Our Sweet History

I met Cathleen over ten years ago when she came to our CONFIDENCE Photography Workshop for Women in DC. We have stayed connected all these years, and I have had the honor of watching her creativity evolve and grow in all that she puts her hands too.

Thousands of women have come through our CONFIDENCE photography workshop over the last 15 years. I love that we get to stay connected to so many in our Rising Phoenix Facebook Group. But what is really special is the ones I’ve had a chance to mentor and especially capture their Rising Phoenix within! It has been a honor to mentor Cathleen over the last decade. She is such a GIFT and celebrating her Rising Phoenix was unforgettable!

Michelle Found Courage to Step Beyond Grief

Meet Michelle. She is definitely someone who has known great courage. At one time, she was an interrogator for the US military in the Middle East. This 5’4 woman knows confidence. But the loss of her mom swallowed that confidence.

There are some seasons in life when we feel unshakeable courage and other seasons that leave us feeling lost. After great loss, it takes great courage to step forward. Maybe you relate to Michelle’s story.

Meet Our Oldest Rising Phoenix

She was in her 80s and never had her makeup and hair done. I’ll never forget the giggles we had over watching Oma that day in the studio. This beautiful 4’9 woman came to the United States with Opa when she was only 23 yrs old and pregnant with her first baby. All they had was $50. Leaving behind family and all that was familiar in the Netherlands, they boarded a cargo boat and set out to make a new life.

Krista, Oma’s granddaughter, had a FIORIA family experience with us last year. When she saw us launch the Rising Phoenix Experience, she thought of her grandma. Oma is the heart of their family and lived eighty plus years as a rising phoenix.

This is the first time Isabella has ever looked at the camera and smiled. This was a miracle photo shoot.

I’ll never forget my first Discovery Call with Isabella’s mom. She wasn’t sure this was a good idea because Isabella is very sensory sensitive. Photo shoots have never gone well in the past. She felt very hesitant to believe this photo shoot could be a success.

I felt her words on such a deep level. I didn’t want to set them up for disappointment either. But I just knew that there was something so special about this whole thing. I told her, “There are many doubts and fears I can struggle with, but this is something I am confident I can do.” She borrowed that confidence, and we witnessed a miracle photo shoot.
