Family Photography: 14 Ways to Capture Dad’s Story

Me Ra Koh

Going Nose to Nose

I did this photo shoot in Los Angeles, CA, years ago, and I still have people ask me about it.  I think the story of dad’s love, strength, and tenderness jumps out at you.  The best part, this is a portrait that anyone can do for a new dad.  For the full photo recipe, find it in my bestselling book Your Baby in Pictures (It’s been on Amazon’s Top 10 Bestseller List since 2011 with 100 5 Star Reviews!).  Okay, I’ll stop.  Just too unreal to even believe sometimes!

I asked dad to sit so he was facing the window light.  And then I had him lift his baby so they barely touched noses.  I focused on their noses so our attention would go to the point of connection.  I edited the photo to be black and white because this story is one of emotion.
