Second, to get a starburst effect in photos during the day, you want to have an object that blocks part of the light. The object can be a person, wall, rooftop, even the clouds! Focus on the object first. Then hold your focus and reframe so the sun starts to pop around the corner or side of the object. You can see the starburst effect with your natural eye. If the object isn’t blocking any of the direct sun, you’re blinded by light. If the object is blocking most of the sun’s rays, you’ll see rays of shooting out.
