Best of at the February Workshop!

Me Ra Koh

The February workshop women were such a wonderful group! I think we all had as much fun laughing together as we did learning about photography. One mom emailed afterward and said;

“I had such a fabulous time on Saturday. I didn’t want to leave but the real world was calling. I have to say that I felt so comfortable asking questions that I probably would never have asked in a typical conference setting. I would have felt they were stupid questions…but at your gathering, I didn’t feel stupid at all. 🙂 Maybe a little shy…but not stupid at all.
I sure hope you intend to have more gatherings. I hesitate to call them conferences because it was fun!”

Brian and I can’t even tell you how wonderful it was to get this kind of feedback, and then a few others emailed after this woman echoing the same words. And I especially love that she felt like the word “conference” didn’t express how much fun we had learning together. 🙂

I’m so excited to share images from a few women that attended! They got some great stuff during the photo shoot. Be prepared to be wowed! The skill level of these women ranged from beginner-beginner to women with their own portrait business. Check it out!

This first one is by Brianna. She came to the workshop as a beginner-beginner, and if I was her I’d be so proud of a beautiful shot like this! Brianna did such a great job at capturing the moment, and the softness of lighting is wonderful!

Jen D. took photography in high school, and now she loves to take photos of her kids. Don’t you think she has what it takes to be a wonderful portrait photographer. Look at the sweetness she captures.

Janelle flew out from Texas, and she has such a wonderful eye and fantastic smile. She also did a great job of capturing mother and baby. I like how Janelle took this image from a different angle giving us a whole different perspective on mom holding baby Gretchen. You can almost her mom singing.

Rachel flew out from Michigan. She has only been at this for six months! We’re going to have to get in line when she starts booking clients at the rate she is growing in her photography. I love how she caught the small details that help us feel the “newborn” stage.

Baby Gretchen totally connected with Rachel for this one. It’s such a gift when a baby does this. Your heart almost stops.

Tess came down from Canada. She has started booking clients, and the whole time we were all telling her that she needs to raise her prices! She had great ideas for composition, and this is just a taste of what she caught. Love the bottom against dad’s strong arms!

A lot of us shot this image, but not many of us did it as a horizontal image. I like what Tess captured by choosing the horizontal frame!

Priscilla flew in from California. She is a wonderful woman with a very sweet, soft spirit. I loved seeing how her eye was capturing totally different angles. This one of mom’s hands is one of my favorites that she did.

And this image is wonderful too for the obvious reasons! 🙂 What a great expression with just enough of mom framed in the shot.

Just about everyone had their own collection of photos of Brianna and Jodi trying out the Canon 70-200 mm L lense. I had to share these photos b/c the girls looks so great!!

As you look over the images from the workshop, keep in mind that there wasn’t any post process done to them. These are pretty much straight out of the camera with no touch ups, and I think the women did an awesome job!

To the wonderful women featured on this blog, if you have a minute, will you post a comment with any thoughts about the images you took. I think it’d be great for readers to hear some of your thoughts behind the image. 🙂 And if you don’t see your images up here, it’s because I somehow didn’t get yours. If you can send me one or two, I’ll gladly do a second blog! Disks are in the mail, keep your eye out for them. 🙂

Miss all of you! It was the most wonderful day! Next time it needs to be longer! Maybe 2 or 3 days…in some warm, beach type place. 🙂 (stay tuned for more on that!…we’re scheming up something exciting…:))

This is so fun! I did so love the hands-on approach of the “workshop.” The photo shoot with baby Gretchen and her parents was a highlight for me! Gretchen’s mom was so relaxed and their bond so tangible – I just wanted to capture as much of it as I could! Thank you, MeRa, Brian, and “crew” for creating such a fabulous day!
    🙂 Jen

I had a wonderful time at the workshop and am so thankful to Me Ra and Brian for being so sharing and open with their knowledge. While we were shooting baby Gretchen I was determined to step out of my comfort zone and apply the techniques Me Ra demonstrated. I’m so excited one of my images came out as I was worried most of them would be big blurs. 😛

Again, I had a great time and if you ever decide to do a Part 2 – I’m in!

    -janelle 🙂
