Look for Details: Blankie’s Last Days

Oh boy … this is a tough one. Pascaline, my 12-year-old, refuses to accept that her blankie may be on its last days. (Which makes it even more important I capture her lovey.) The blankie was a gift when she was born, along with several other soft blankets. But this is the one her heart grabbed hold of, and this is the one she can’t live without.

Twelve years later, she only has a handful of shredded parts left that she tucks away in a secret spot next to her bed. I had her hold all those pieces in her hands, because I wanted the photo to tell the story of how precious these last bits are, and how little is left.

Photo Tip: To convey an intimate connection between your child and their lovey, take a photo of just their hands holding it. Notice how close I framed the photo. I didn’t even go as wide as Pascaline’s elbows. I did this because I don’t want any thing distracting us from her sweet hands and her most treasured lovey.
