Jen here with another First Year post…and this one is all about baby exercising!
My husband, Jason, is big on physical fitness. It has always been a part of his personal life and plays an important role in his career. So when I was 4 months pregnant, shopping around the Seattle airport after my CONFIDENCE workshop teacher training, and spotted a rattle in the shape of a dumbbell, you know I had to buy it. Since Logan’s birth, two more friends gifted us with rattles, and, much to my husband’s delight, Logan acquired her very first “weight set” she just LOVES to use!
Whenever Jason is working out in our garage gym, Logan likes to check out what her daddy is doing. Her eyes widen with curiosity, as she is not sure what to make of the equipment her daddy uses or his movement. But after setting her down on a mat and surrounding her with her own equipment, it’s not long before Logan shows daddy up in a workout of her own!
Not a quite a crawler yet, Logan loves to show off how she can push her body up off the floor. She is in the stage where she loves to imitate things Jason and I do, so I thought it would be fun to teach her to do “push-ups” with me. It is so adorable to lay next to her, count out loud “one, two, three, push-up!” and watch Logan do a push-up the same time as me. She is always so proud of herself, and we can crank out several reps in a row! She loves doing push-ups with her daddy, too.
After a good day in our gym, flexing muscles and working up a good sweat, no workout routine would be complete without a kiss!
She may be just a little one now, but one day Logan will be bigger and stronger. Who knows what she will be able to accomplish? We look forward to teaching her that with hard work and determination, anything is possible!
What kinds of physical activities do you like to do with your kids? Do you walk nature trails, swim at your local YMCA or throw around a football in the backyard? Leave me a comment below to share your tips on getting active with your family. You just might inspire someone to get up and do something new this week!
Meet me here next Monday for a peek into how music and dancing have become a big part of our daily routine.
First Year Cheers!
